Description

Percy Jackson’s seventh-grade year has been surprisingly quiet. Not a single monster has set foot on his New York prep-school campus. But when an innocent game of dodgeball among Percy and his classmates turns into a death match against an ugly gang of cannibal giants, things get...well, ugly.... read more

Cast of Characters/Important People

  • Percy Jackson: The main character, son of Poseidon. His best friends are Tyson, Annabeth, and Grover. Feels like his father has abandoned him.
  • Grover: He is a Satyr, also nicknamed G-Man by Percy. Percy's best friend since sixth grade. Strikes as pliable wimp who Percy had to protect ever since they became friends, but showed his strength of character later when he decided to go alone on the dangerous quest to find Pan, the God of wilderness who had vanished without a trace aeons ago. Loves enchiladas.
  • Tyson: Percy's friend.
  • Annabeth Chase: Percy's friend, a half-blood daughter of Athena. Apart from being clever, she's sarcastic, brave, pretty and has issues with her family. Her fatal weakness is pride. She's been at Camp Half-Blood longer than any of the other attenders.
  • Athena: Annabeth's mom, is the Goddess of war, civilization, wisdom, strength, strategy, craft, justice and skill (in short, not someone who can be messed with) . She and the Sea God have been rivals ever since her contest with Poseidon for dominion of Athens; and she dislikes the fact that her daughter Annabeth is loyal to his son.
  • Tantalus: Camp Half-Blood's new activities director from the underworld.
  • Chiron: Camp Half-Blood's old activities director, a kindly centaur.
  • Clarisse: The half-blood daughter of Ares. Has an enmity with Percy.
  • Luke: He hates being the son of Hermes, for he feels just as abandoned as Percy, though he shows it in a more hateful way. Tried to kill Percy.
  • Polyphemus: Almost blind Cyclops. Has grudge against Odysseus, who tricked him by saying his name was "Nobody".
  • Hermes: God of travel, hospitality, thieves, and much more. Father of Luke.
  • Circe: Daughter of Hecate. Sorceress.
  • Thalia: A half-blood daughter of Zeus, turned into a pine tree years ago by her father so she wouldn't be killed.
  • Poseidon: Percy's powerful father, God of the oceans, the brother of Zeus and Hades. He and Athena have been rivals ever since her contest with Poseidonfor dominion of Athens. However unlike Athena, he has no issues with Percy being a close friend of her daughter.
  • Ares: God of War, Clarisse's father, has a grudge against Percy because of the duel in 'The Lightening Thief'
  • George and Martha: The snakes to Hermes' staff, George likes Rats, Martha is sensible. Become a cell phone when Hermes shrinks his staff.

  • “'Well, well if it isn't Peter Johnson. My millenium is complete.' I gritted my teeth. 'Percy Jackson...sir.' Mr. D sipped his diet coke. 'Yes. Well, as you young people say these days: Whatever.'”
    Mr. D and Percy Jackson
  • “"Poseidon," I murmured, "accept my offering." And send me some help while you're at it, I prayed silently. Please.”

    Percy Jackson
  • “The happy man said . . . bowling practice?”
    Tyson
  • “Then it changed colors. I saw myself -- a reflection, but not a reflection. Shimmering there on the cloth was a cooler version of Percy Jackson --- with just the right clothes, a confident smile on my face. My teeth were straight. No zits. A perfect tan. More athletic. Maybe a couple inches taller. It was me, without the faults. "Whoa", I managed.”
    Percy Jackson
  • “"Thanks . . ." I faltered. "I'm really sorry—" Before I could figure out how to apologize for being such an idiot, she tackled me with a hug, then pulled away just as quickly. "I'm glad you're not an guinea pig." "Me, too." I hoped my face wasn't as red as it felt.”
    Percy Jackson and Annabeth
  • “Families are messy. Immortal families are eternally messy. Sometimes the best we can do is to remind each other that we're related, for better or worse . . . and try to keep the maiming and killing to a minimum.”
    Hermes
  • “That's what makes heroes so special. You carry the hopes of humanity into the realm of the eternal.”
    Chiron
  • “A minute later Annabeth hit a slippery patch of moss and her foot slipped. Fortunately, she found something else to put it against. Unfortunately, that something was my face. 'Sorry.' she murmured. 'S'okay,' I grunted, though I'd never really wanted to know what Annabeth's sneaker tasted like.”
    Annabeth Chase + Percy Jackson
  • “The Bridge fell away into the chasm, and the Cyclops howled... with delight, because he was standing right next to us. 'Failed!' he yelled gleefully. 'Nobody failed!'”
    Polyphemus
  • “Nobody was going to swat down my friends like that! I mean... nobody, not Nobody. Ah, you know what I mean.”

    Percy Jackson
