What we've read so far in 2013...

*Please only add books that you HAVE read in 2013*
For the books you've read in 2012, visit the 2012 list!

Just keep voting for books as you read them. Which book will we read the most this year? And for all you lucky people who read more than 100 books in a year, this should become your 100 favourite reads in 2013 list. Delete your least faves as you go past 100.

FYI- This is the 4th year for this list. Last year's list generated almost 5,000 books with 690 voters. The Hunger Games was (once again) the most read at 241 votes followed (also again) by Catching Fire & Mockingjay. Divergent and City of Bones made our top 5. Cheers

Buggy Happy New Years Everyone!

Last years 2012 list http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/15...

message 2: by Dina (new)

Dina Hey Buggy, can you believe I haven't read The Hunger Games yet? :O I've had it in my currently-reading bookshelf for the whole year and, shame on me, it's going to stay there for a while longer. Do you think I should discuss this 'avoidance issue' with my therapist? LOL

message 3: by Buggy (last edited Dec 31, 2012 10:26PM) (new)

Buggy Dina You are so funny. I think we had this same conversation a year ago today. Just take a breathe, close your eyes (no wait that won't work) and do it.

I figured I might as well add it as the #1 book as thats where it always ends up.

Hey do you have librian status? I can't figure out how to "link" the top 5 from last year titles or back to the 2012 list from the blurb.

message 4: by Dina (last edited Dec 31, 2012 10:36PM) (new)

Dina Yup, we did have the same conversation a year ago. I hope we won't have it again a year from now. ;)

Sorry, I don't have librarian status. That's too 'complicated' for me, LOL.

message 5: by Buggy (new)

Buggy Apparently its too complicated for me too LOL

message 6: by Rhea (last edited Jan 01, 2013 01:58PM) (new)

Rhea o_O
Someone just added 50+ books to the list. All of them read in 2012, of course.
I'm not sure if I should remove them.

message 7: by Buggy (new)

Buggy Yeah I noticed that Rh3a, someone manages to do it every year for some reason. I was just going to let it slide because in a couple of months it won't matter.

I wanted to thank you for linking the books in the blurb and removing the ones I added for real ones that have been read this year. Could you also link back "last years list" in the blurb to the 2012 link.

message 8: by Buggy (new)

Buggy Ha, now several people have done it. I thought this list was pretty self explanatory, oh well.

message 9: by Elisa (new)

Elisa Thanks for the invite again Buggy! I love this list...I don't love the people that can't follow directions so much though, haha.

message 10: by Buggy (new)

Buggy LMAO I just don't know what the problem is?? Oh well it all works out in the end. Glad to see you back on the list again and have a super New Year!

message 11: by Elisa (new)

Elisa Lol me either. Are these people so desperate to be rebels in some kind of way that these are the rules they choose to break? That's one of my working theories anyway, haha. Thanks, and thank you for creating it again! Happy New Year to you too!

message 12: by Dina (new)

Dina Gah, why can't people follow simple rules?!? Send them to the naughty corner, Buggy! :P

And Happy New Year to all, ladies (and gentlemen?) 2013 has already arrived here and I can't wait to start populating my list.

message 13: by Buggy (last edited Jan 01, 2013 04:29AM) (new)

Buggy Yeah I wish there was a Ufail button.

Happy New Year to you Dina, I still have several hours yet to go yet here, I just put the champagne outside to chill

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Dina wrote: "Gah, why can't people follow simple rules?!? Send them to the naughty corner, Buggy! :P

I'm a high school teacher, and over the years I have had to accept that people just won't follow the simplest of rules. *sigh*

message 15: by Rhea (last edited Jan 01, 2013 04:46PM) (new)

Rhea OK, ladies, that's all I could do. Ten books left; mostly genuine votes... Unfortunately I can only remove books, not votes.
I don't think they're all rebels, though. I'm a strong believer in human stupidity; it never fails...

message 16: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie Thanks Buggy for making a new list!
And thanks Rhea for removing all the 2012 read books...
I've set myself a target of 52 books for this year but I thoroughly hope I find some more time to get more than that read.
Happy New Book Reading Year :)

message 17: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Lane Thanks for the invite, Buggy! I wonder how I will remember to post on this list when I finish a book. Any suggestions?

message 18: by Penny (new)

Penny Jennifer wrote: "Thanks for the invite, Buggy! I wonder how I will remember to post on this list when I finish a book. Any suggestions?"

I find it is the first thing I think of to do - finished book, go online, post the book on my list(s!), and pick the new book to read. Once you get into the habit of this, it becomes second nature.

BTW - Thanks for putting the list up again Buggy! I got my 'What Women Born in the 70s have read so far this year' list up too. I'm hoping your earlier 'dilemma' steers clear of my list though...

message 19: by Buggy (new)

Buggy Hey guys, Glad to see everyone here and Happy New Year! My head is hurting a wee bit today :)

@ Jennifer I would add books to the list when you mark them as read of course I don't always remeber to do this and usually add a bunch alltogether whenever I get around to it... That probably wasn't very helpful was it? LOL

message 20: by Dina (new)

Dina Buggy wrote: "My head is hurting a wee bit today :)"

Too much champagne? ;)

message 21: by Buggy (last edited Jan 02, 2013 12:01AM) (new)

Buggy Yup Dina it was the champagne and possibly the wine and I do remember some hot apple cider at some point too. Agh, and the Bailys!

message 22: by Dina (new)

Dina Niiiice! :D

message 23: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Lane Yeah I had a cosmo and 1 1/2 glasses of wine and a little champagne. Too much!

message 24: by Buggy (new)

Buggy a Cosmo and 11 and a half glasses of wine! Jennifer you party animal!!! LOL

message 25: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Lane No, ONE and a half glass of wine! LOL I'd be in the hospital.

message 26: by Penny (last edited Jan 03, 2013 09:10AM) (new)

Penny New Year's Eve reminded me why I had given up alcohol and why I am about to give up sugar. I didn't drink THAT much [an attempt to clear the liquor cabinet] but I still got the hangover from the sugar the next day damn it...[must be getting old] ;-D

message 27: by Buggy (new)

Buggy Ah yes the sugar hangover, I manage a couple of those a week due to my addiction to all things candy. I always forget about the sugar in alcohol

message 28: by Cindi (new)

Cindi Isn't there a book called The Sugar Hangover? I should probably read it, as I seem to have one daily...course I keep up that "hair of the dog" remedy trying to avoid it ;)

message 29: by Penny (new)

Penny LOL. I currently have 'The Mucous Effect' (probably a book title too) from the giving up of sugar and dairy and the body trying to cleanse itself. It's almost enough to go back to having 'The Sugar Hangover' again, but I'm going to try and persevere...for a bit longer...

message 30: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie Evidently I need to change my morals and become one of these people who refuses to get a job... I just don't have enough time to read as much as I want :(

message 31: by Buggy (new)

Buggy I know the feeling Bonnie. I'm also super envious of those fast readers who can read a book in a day or a few hours.

message 32: by Jack (new)

Jack Hi everyone,

I have created a new group called Goodreads All Sorts and I'd love for people to join it or just even just give it a look. It's a group that discusses anything and everything. There will be monthly group reads, movies, and music. There is a folder for everything you could think of. I'd really like if people could spread the word because I'd love for the group to be a success. Here is the link to the group:

http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/9...

Thanks very much,
Jack :-)

message 33: by Arti (new)

Arti Is Never Too Far by Abbi Glines on here?

message 34: by Ally (new)

Ally I know it's only March, but I'm kind of surprised Hunger Games isn't number one yet.

Oh well. Nothing I've read is in the top 100, as usually. :P Though I might read Beautiful Creatures before the year is up.

message 35: by Buggy (new)

Buggy Hey Allison, its kinda fun not having Hunger Games as number 1. I'm really enjoying the different selection of books this year. Lots of great recommendations

message 36: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Lane Thanks for the recommendation, Jenna. There's no book blurb listed...will you share what it's about?

message 37: by Buggy (new)

Buggy Thanks Jenna

message 38: by Kim (new)

Kim Hi everyone! If you fit into this category: Women born in the 90's, I would love for you to come vote on my list! I enjoy comparing it to this list, its fun to see what's trending as a whole and in my age group.
http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/29...
It could definitely use some more voters so feel free to pass the link on to friends, thanks!

message 39: by Laura (new)

Laura You only have 55 ratings?

message 40: by Buggy (last edited Jun 23, 2013 07:32PM) (new)

Buggy .....*Sigh* Advertising and self/"friend" promotion.
Which of course makes me not want to go near the book.

message 41: by Laura (new)

Laura Yeah, pretty much what I was thinking.

message 42: by Shannon (new)

Shannon Buggy wrote: "Happy New Years Everyone!

Hi Buggy,

Let me start by saying I love this list. I really like to see how popular reads change over the course of the year. With that being said, would you mind if I listed a top 5 every month here in the comments on your 2014 list. My memory is terrible and I'd really like to keep track of how the reads evolve over the year.

message 43: by Buggy (last edited Sep 13, 2013 07:44AM) (new)

Buggy Hi Shannon,

I Have no problems with you listing a top 5 in the comments every month. I also find it interesting how popular reads change. For about 3 years this list was all about The Hunger Games so it was really nice to see a change this year

message 44: by Shannon (new)

Shannon Great! I just didn't want to annoy every one. I'm very glad The Hunger Games have finally stepped down. And the list seems to have changed a lot this year. Thanks for starting it every year. Happy reading!

message 45: by Khurram (new)

Khurram I am very glad on being a part of Goodreads and hope to study romentic and thought provoking books. Happy reading.

message 46: by Buggy (last edited Oct 02, 2013 09:45PM) (new)

Buggy Welcome and Happy Reading to you too Khurram :)

message 47: by Buggy (last edited Jan 01, 2014 01:43AM) (new)

Buggy Here's the link to the new WHAT WE'VE READ SO FAR IN 2014 list

https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/4...

message 48: by Dina (new)

Dina Well, I've read one of the Top 5 this year. Not bad, not bad at all. :) (I'm easy to please, LOL.)

message 49: by Shannon (new)

Shannon Dina wrote: "Well, I've read one of the Top 5 this year. Not bad, not bad at all. :) (I'm easy to please, LOL.)"

I've read one but in 2012. LOL

message 50: by Laura (new)

Laura Only 97 books out of my 100 goal read. :[ But I didn't include most of my manga - does that make up for it? Lol.
