When Wotan (the great Friedrich Schorr) tries to stop him, Siegfried uses his sword to break the god's spear and makes his way to the sleeping Brünnhilde (a radiant Kirsten Flagstad). He awakens her with a kiss--and sets in motion the events that, in the following opera, will bring about the end of the world. Kerstin Thorborg co-stars as Erda and Artur Bodanzky conducts
