Dabei ist ihr die wunderbare, wenig bekannte Klaviertranskription von Franz Liszt eine dankbare Vorlage. Der wusste eben, was auf dem Klavier funktioniert. Anders als bei manchen seiner Schubert-Transkriptionen, die teilweise sehr virtuos sind, hat sich Liszt bei seiner Bearbeitung von Beethovens "An die ferne Geliebte" zurückgehalten. Die Lieder bleiben in der Klavierfassung so innig, intim und berührend wie im Original. Evgenia Rubinova spielt sie in Liszts romantischem Geist, sehr gefühlvoll, dabei nie larmoyant.
