7 editions published in 1993 in Italian and Undetermined and held by 203 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Bellini's first opera Adelson e Salvini, written in 1825 while the composer was still a student at the Naples Conservatory. A young painter, Salvini, falls in love with the fiance of the wealthy and powerful Lord Adelson, Nelly. Nelly's uncle, Struley, outlawed from Ireland, where the opera takes place, for some unspecified political offense, and a bitter enemy of Adelson, uses this passion as a means to be revenged on Adelson. A letter, seemingly, from Adelson's father giving news of Adelson's impending marriage to a London lady of rank, is shown to Salvini and this brings matters to a crisis. An attempted abduction of Nelly by Struley is foiled by Salvini, and the opera ends with Salvini cured of his infatuation
