1 edition published in 2012 in German and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
This DVD contains two films produced in Germany during the Nazi era, Die Deutsche Wochenschau and Die Goldene Fessel. The first, Die Deutsche Wochenschau, is a German newsreel which might have played in front of the feature film. This color newsreel begins in the Rhine Valley where we find German soldiers assisting young women in traditional costume bring in the grape harvest. Then we follow several barges as they transport a dozen cattle across a lake. Once on the other side of the lake, the local farmers decorate the cattle with folkloric designs made of straw. Then to Norway where we see German troops socializing with local Laplanders. An attack by Soviet airplanes is repulsed by German anti-aircraft. Then the newsreel returns to Germany where members of the German Red Cross are preparing packages for shipment to German prisoners. The newsreel ends in a Red Cross hospital where German soldiers are recuperating. In the feature film Die Goldene Fessel, Herr von Lips is a wealthy landowner, surrounded by money and luxury. However, he lacks a wife, so he comes up with the plan to mingle among the local villagers in simple clothing in order to find a bride. Three of his friends attempt to set him up with the hat maker Mathilde, but in an unexpected turn, Mathilde's employer, Kathi, who has no idea that von Lips is a rich man, falls in love with him instead
