"Ricciarelli is a harmonically sensitive Lucia who makes drama out of 'Regnava nel silenzio,' feeling every word. She uses a heavier, more forceful sound in Act II, acts well and interpolates a D-flat at the end of the sextet. Carreras feels the part of Edgardo, is in fresh voice and has a good breath span. He's impassioned in the 'Maledetto' section of Act II and sings the opera's final moments with pathos. Nucci imbues Enrico with great emotional intensity, also a precision of rhythm from which the music benefits. He feels 'Cruda funesta smania' in his guts--and gives a spinal chill. His is the most viscerally satisfying account of the aria I've heard. Both face and voice ooze disdain. In Act II Gardelli opens a duet usually cut for Lucia and Raimondo. It's Bellinian in the beauty of its slow section."
The essential José Carreras by José Carreras( )

3 editions published in 2008 in Italian and held by 293 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A beloved member of The Three Tenors, Spains Jos Carreras has become one of the most passionate, popular and affecting singers of his time. Though his worldwide celebrity was sealed by his first collaboration in The Three Tenors with Plcido Domingo and the late Luciano Pavarotti in 1990, Carreras had been one of operas finest tenors for almost twenty years, his sweet and lyrical voice commanding a wide range of roles from the ardent young romantic hero of Werther to the dangerous Don Jos of Carmen. He has also won new fans with his song recordings and his charming forays into the Broadway repertoire

In 19th century Seville, the lusty, tempestuous Carmen seduces a naive Army corporal, Don Jose, newly assigned to the village fortress. Jose abandons his career, his fiancee and even his dying mother for the love of this sultry gypsy. But soon she spurns him in favor of a toreador, Escamillo. Crazed with jealousy, Jose begs Carmen to return to him, but her taunting declaration of independence results in tragedy
Gloria by Antonio Vivaldi( Recording )

7 editions published between 1977 and 1989 in 3 languages and held by 239 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Twenty years after it was first released by Archiv in 1987, Trevor Pinnock and the English Consort's coupling of Vivaldi's Gloria and Scarlatti's Dixit Dominus still sounds new, vital, and even contemporary in this 2007 reissue. Pinnock's tempos are lively, his lines clean, his textures clear, and his rhythms crisp. The English Consort's playing is light, tight, suave, supple, and, when the piece calls for it, powerful. The Choir of the English Consort's singing is sensitive, strong, and excellently enunciated. Soprano Nancy Argenta is a standout among the singers, and the instrumental soloists, especially clarion trumpeter Crispian Steele-Perkins, are uniformly strong. Archiv's early digital sound was bright, deep, and detailed when it was first released, and because this is an un-remastered reissue of the same disc, it remains the same. If you want to hear a coupling of Vivaldi's Gloria and Scarlatti's Dixit Dominus, Pinnock's was then and remains now a fine first choice
